Writing has a lot to do with the flames of passion. There’s the passion for the craft and path to publication. Why else would one embark on an uphill journey with tons of boulders rolling down the mountain toward you? 
Just when you out maneuver one, here comes another that tries to knock you down. But you keep going because you know one day, you will stand at the summit and scream at the top of your lungs, “I made it!”
Those same flames of passion translate into art. If an author has done his or her job well, that passion will ooze out of every page of their novel, keeping the reader riveted and turning the pages.
And then there’s the insatiable passion the characters have for each other. (Which can be love or hate.) One of my favorite things about writing young adult romance is bringing the passion of first love alive on the page. Teens are some of the most passionate creatures on this planet and tons of fun to write about.
I think this quote sums it up perfectly.
Nothing splendid was ever
created in cold blood. Heat is
required to forge anything.
Every great accomplishment is
the story of a flaming heart.
