Today is bittersweet.  I am lucky to be a mom to two wonderful kids, who spoiled me.  Early this morning, while I went for a run, they went to the bagel shop to pick up one of my favorite breakfast foods – bagels of course.  My amazing husband made bacon that melted in my mouth and scrambled eggs, just the way I like them.  Add fresh pineapple and a cup of tea… perfect.  Well almost.  The only thing missing was my mom-in-law, who would always pop in on Mother’s Day morning with a plant or flower for our yard.  Then we’d take her out for a fancy brunch.  My favorite, going to this New Orleans inspired restaurant called Copeland’s.

Sadly, we lost my mom-in-law last year – a couple days after Thanksgiving – to an aggressive form of ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease).  ALS S-U-C-K-S.  *can you hear me shouting?*  It is a cruel, cruel disease that S-U-C-K-S.  At least I know she’s now in a better place.

I love you Trish… and I miss you every day…
